"Drop" is the reference between midsole heel thickness and the midsole forefoot thickness.

A lower stack height means the shoe will be closer to the trail with more precision and sensitivity, but less cushioning and protection. A higher stack height means the shoe will provide more cushioning and protection from impact and rugged terrain, but will be less sensitive and precise.
