It used to be for stability – dropping one knee provided better fore and aft stability than the parallel position, then as the equipment progressed it became a statement. The tele turn is inherently playful: bouncy, variable and fluid and with any luck; full of face shots. Ask anyone who telemark skis and they will tell you “the face shot is almost an endangered species and the telemark turn is your ticket to going deeper”. For those who want to go deeper and make a statement SCARPA telemark boots are the best you can buy.

Telemark boots binding compatibility
Telemark boots are broken into 3 distinct families based on the type of binding the boot uses.

75MM
The original telemark binding system, featuring boots with a “duckbill” shaped toe (75mm wide at the front edge) that slides into the binding toe bail, combined with a tensioned cable wrapping around the heel for retention and power. Some also feature 3 pins that interface with the rubber sole, hence the older references to Pinheads or 3 Pin bindings.
NTN or “New Telemark Norm”
Newer system using boots that do not have the duckbill shaped toe, but instead a rounded lip that interfaces with the metal toe bail of the NTN binding. NTN boots use a plastic lip under the middle of the sole called the “2nd Heel” that pulls the boot forward into the binding.
TELE TECH
The newest tele binding system, the tele tech system features tech/pin interface at the toe paired with either a tensioned heel cable or an underfoot interface with the 2nd heel of the boot.

Power Block Tour: A game-changer that set the standard for ski/ walk mechanisms. Torsion Control: The original T-Race torsion bars have been redesigned into an “integrated torsion frame” that connects all the components of the shell through a BI-injected, dual density structure that extends from the boot toe to the top of the cuff.
-
Warm/Moldable Liners: The completely moldable Intuition® Speed Pro G liner keeps you warm. This liner partnered with a 102mm last provides the right combination of both comfort and warmth.

Asymmetrical Bellows: The Asymmetrical Bellows allow the boot to flex in a pattern that mirrors the shape of you foot, creating a more natural flex and energy transfer.

"Day in and day out this boot never disappoints. Comfortable, powerful and dependable. The intuition liner keeps my feet toasty and molding is a breeze. Micro adjust buckles let me dial in my fit and always keep my foot locked in. Boot skis great and drives the largest of skis with ease. Smooth flex, powerful cuff and 4 buckles make this my go to boot."
