WHAT SETS SCARPA APART FROM THE COMPETITION

CLIMBING SHOE PROFILE EXPLINED

Different types of climbing can benefit from a range of heel-to-toe profiles.

heel-to-toe profile
Heel to Toe Profile.jpg

Flat shoes are optimal for climbing moves that involve pushing with the foot. Depending on the stiffness they can excel at edging and smearing.

Downturned shoes put the foot into a position to be able to pull. This is a huge benefit when climbing roofs or overhanging boulder problems.

Moderately downturned shoes allow climbers to pull with their feet but maintain their versatility.

Aggressively downturned shoes can excel at overhanging moves and edging on small holds, but aren't appropriate for smearing or crack climbing.

CLIMBING SHOE SYMMETRY EXPLAINED

This continuum represents how the different shapes of a last concentrate a climber's weight along the foot and over the toes.

Asymmetric.jpg

Less asymmetrical footprints give a more even distribution of weight along the entire foot and middle toes. This helps train feet that are new to rock climbing and provides comfort for advanced climbers during extended use.

Increasingly asymmetric footprints concentrate the climber’s weight to a specialized point. This provides power specifically where advanced climbers need the support.

ORIGIN FAMILY OVERVIEW

ALL-DAY Performance category: ORIGIN FAMILY OVERVIEW

The Origin has long been one of SCARPA’s best-selling entry level shoes. Featuring a flat, neutral profile and strong underfoot support, the Origin is a classic design capable of handling just about every type of climbing you can throw at it. But what if your main focus is indoor climbing, where underfoot sensitivity and maximum sticky rubber coverage are critical?

MEET THE ORIGIN VS

Designed with modern indoor climbing in mind, this new model features the same comfortable shape and last of the original Origin, but with a completely different feature set and feel.

Underfoot sensitivity is also the biggest and most noticeable difference between the Origin and the Origin VS. The Origin is designed for all day climbing, so it provides a stiff and supportive underfoot feel and utilizes our Vision rubber compound which excels at edging and face climbing. The Origin VS, however, truly shines when you’re smearing on large volumes or pulling bicycle moves in the bouldering cave. This is all thanks to its S-72 rubber outsole, which is the same formula found on our other premier indoor climbing shoe, the Veloce.

Whether you’re doing marathon days on multi-pitch climbs, or working your project on the local Kilter Board, one of the Origin models will have you covered.
